Glen Keith 25 Years 55.5 % 1993-2019 Wilson & Morgan
2.799,75 DKK
Glen Keith 25 years distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2019 with a total of 157 bottles.
Scent: Nice scent with honey and juicy fruit with a nice hint of beeswax.
Taste: The lovely aroma is confirmed in the taste. Very sweet and chewy with notes of heather honey and beeswax. There are ripe apricots and pears where bananas mix with a hint of tropical fruit.
Aftertaste: the sweet fruit flavor becomes a little peppery without it being too much.
Glen Keith 25 years single malt Cask strength of 55.5 % from Batch no. 8513 has been placed in Bourbon casks.
Patience:
Sometimes the best results are achieved by patient aging in traditional bourbon casks. The whiskey is allowed to mature without anything else influencing it. A Glen Keith with this very classic flavor profile is hard to find today. This bottling is a good example of what it can become if given enough time.
Wilson & Morgan:
Since 1992, Wilson & Morgan has offered a fine selection of rare independent bottlings of Scotch malt whisky. The barrels are stored in countries all over the world. And in many cases they are further matured in port, rum or marsala casks in Italy. Everything is personally selected by Fabio Rossi, who follows a simple rule for his selections: "Trust your palate and your instinct." And it is probably because of this rule that his whiskeys are particularly attractive on the market today.
Distillery:
Glen Keith is a modern distillery. When it opened in 1958, it was the first new distillery to open in Speyside since the Great Whiskey Crash of 1898. It therefore stands in stark contrast to Strathisla – the oldest in Scotland.
Construction started in 1957 and was completed in 1960. Initially with three stills with the aim of triple distillation. In 1970 two more stills were added when production switched to double distillation. The new method of production incorporated the novelty of the first gas-fired stills in Scotland. Three years later, steam coils were also installed.
The distillery's output was initially used in blends such as Chivas Regal, Passport and 100 Pipers, but Chivas Brothers also used it as a laboratory to experiment with innovations in production and processing, for example developing their own yeast strains.
In the 1990s, the distillery released an official bottling under the name Glen Keith 1983. This bottling was replaced a few years later by a 10-year-old single malt. Two peated malts were produced under the names Glenisla and Craigduff.
The Glen Keith Distillery was painted in 1999. Extensive rebuilding work began in 2012 and the distillery reopened in June 2013. At the time of the distillery's reopening, Chivas Brothers intended its annual production to be six million liters of spirit, almost all of which will be used in blended whiskey intended for export.
