Bellingham Big Oak

Aroma: Intense notes of dark berries, spices and black pepper flow from the glass.

Taste: Medium-bodied and elegant wine with flavors of juicy black and blue berries, dark chocolate and spice. The wine has a fine structure with nice tannins and a fruity finish that just keeps going.

This is a wine most people will like and will suit almost any occasion. Enjoy it with a grilled steak, a good burger, lamb, spicy pasta dishes and mature cheeses.

Serving temperature: 16-18ºC.

The magnificent Big Oak at Bellingham Manor is a hallmark of the beloved garden of founding couple Bernard and Fredagh Podlashuk. It was in the shade of this tree that the first Bellingham wines were bottled by hand and where friends and family of The Pods gathered to celebrate life in the Franschhoek Valley.

The two grape types are harvested by hand at the end of March and fermented separately with the skins before undergoing malolactic fermentation in older French oak barrels. The grapes are then matured for a further 9 months in oak barrels before being blended into a wine that shows the best of both grape varieties.

The history of Bellingham takes its starting point in the Franschhoek Valley where the winery was founded in 1693. After the company got new owners in the 1940s, it has undergone a great development, so that today Bellingham stands stronger than ever. It has always been the goal to look for new trends and currents in the market while at the same time sticking to the traditions. The result is wines with a wide spread of both grape varieties and flavors. Exciting, modern, lively. Sophisticated without being snobbish, overseas with a classic charisma.
