Chateau Fleur De Jean Gue, Lalande De Pomerol

Chateau Fleur De Jean Gue Lalande de Pomerol offers surprisingly large volume and high intensity, typical characteristics from here and with a well-balanced touch of Merlot.

Scent: Intense aroma of raspberries and berries
Taste: Here, the taste of blackcurrant and roasted coffee dominates, which in the aftertaste settles with notes of apricot and pleasant spices. The proportion of Merlot grapes gives the wine balance and makes it round and velvety.
Served for: Poultry, but also delicious with red meat, grilled fish and cheese.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C.

Chateau Fleur De Jean Gue consists of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The grapes come from vines that are 25 years old and are planted in sandy, gravelly soil. When the grapes are harvested, they are taken to the winery, where they are de-stemmed and crushed before fermentation. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel vats, where the grape must and grape marc lie for three to four weeks. The grape must is pumped over the grape pomace once a day to give the wine the right colour, fullness and taste. The wine is poured into oak barrels, where the malolactic fermentation takes place.

The winery and producer:

Located just a few rows of vines from the unique 12th century church of Lalande de Pomerol, the winery originally consisted of a 2 hectare gravel plot of land. Today, the property consists of 14 hectares of land. 8 of the 14 hectares surround the modern and functional winery, which was built in 1992.

Fleur de Jean Gué's winery has the latest technology, including double insulation which prevents the large temperature fluctuations of the wine.
