Camus Borderies VSOP Cognac
This Borderies VSOP Cognac from Camus is a limited edition made from 100% Ugni Blanc grapes, carefully selected for this cognac. This grape is used for its unique ability to create cognac with intense aromas and finesse.
Color: Beautiful golden with an orange streak.
Scent: Offers vanilla and orange peel with elegant spicy touches and a fine sweetness.
Taste: Creamy and with a nice structure, the notes from the fragrance repeat and are complemented by notes of almond and oak.
Aftertaste: An elegant cognac with a long and persistent aftertaste.
The Eaux-de-vie (spirits) used in this cognac are distilled according to secret regulations that have been passed down in the Camus family since the foundation. During the distillation, all the aromas of the grapes are extracted before the spirit is stored in oak casks in cellars with controlled humidity. This helps to enhance the finesse and elegance found in this unique cognac.
The area and the producer:
The Camus family have been Cognac producers since 1863. Through 5 generations, the secret of "mixing" Cognac has been passed down from father to son. Today, Jean-Paul Camus works together with his two sons Jean-Baptiste and Cyril Camus as the 5th generation in the distinguished Cognac house.
Huset Camus owns more than 125 ha of vineyards, in the Grande Champagne and Borderies areas, and is thus one of the most important producers in the district. In Cognac, the grape varieties Ugni Blanc and Colombard are used, with the main emphasis on Ugni Blanc.
Camus owns 4 distilleries that have a total capacity of 30 million litres. Cognac is distilled in onion-shaped copper stills. The wine is heated in the still so that the light alcohol evaporates. The alcohol from the first "burning" is collected and distilled a second time and the new "spirit" sees the light of day.
After several years of aging in oak casks, the "spirit" is transformed into Cognac. After aging the Cognac in the oak casks, it acquires an amber-golden tone and the oak's delicate scent. To produce the final Cognac, samples are taken from many different vintages, which are combined. That job is handled by Jean-Paul Camus and his two sons.
